Anthea Blouse Hack

Truth be told… I have yet to sew the actual, straight from the pattern Anthea Blouse by Anna Allen without a hack.

For this variation, I simply removed the button placket on both sides & created ties instead. The ties are 1/4” wide by 12” long. I used an 1” strip of fabric to create a 1/4” double fold bias tape.

The blouse is made from Indian Hand Blocked cotton… such beautiful fabric. I order it from HERE on Etsy - it is coming directly from the makers to you!

I also made yet another pair of POMONA PANTS…

It is my millionth pair.. This is actually my second pair from this fabric (from a clearance remnant bin at Joannes yeeeears ago).

I made the first pair the day before leaving for Ottawa in July (I often manic do projects when I have to leave somewhere for any prolonged amount of time). One morning, I wore them with another blouse I made for the trip and as I walked past the big, shiny windows, I caught my reflection.

I was mildly APPALLED.

I looked like a middle aged woman with those second hip bumps. The fabric pulled just enough across my hips. My vision was a pair of pants that had a 60/70’s retro vibe… instead had pants that confirmed my 70’s origins.

So I promptly went back to Penny’s apartment & modelled them for the young, smooth people. Penny confirmed that I looked like a middle aged woman & rather abruptly told me I was one… TOTALLY BESIDES THE POINT.

To prove my point, I had her darling friend try them on - she looked FABULOUS. No second hip bump and totally vibing the 60’s. So I gifted the pants to her.

I had just enough to make a second pair & used 1/4” seam allowances to give just a wee bit more grace to my hips & now they are back to being one hip bump. Whew.
