Knitting Norway.

There are many MANY places I would love to travel. For years, I felt at a loss because it felt like it would never be so. The places I wanted to go and FEEL were at the bottom of the priority bucket.

Until one day, I realized… why am I waiting to go there to experience it? I can bring it to me!!! Ever since then, I revel in sourcing materials and patterns from designers all over the world. I get to bring them right into my home and plop them on the couch right next to me. THE BEST.

This Stockholm Slipover V-neck is no exception. The designer is from Denmark (a place some of my ancestors hailed from). Her patterns are exquisite and I have had the itch to try them for a long time. I was nervous, because they looked so beautiful, I was worried my skill level would not be adequate - have no fear, she has videos posted of all the tricky parts!!!

Speaking of itch, the pattern recommended using Sandnes Garn yarn (Sunday + Tynn Silk Mohair) - which is from NORWAY!! Another place my beloved ancestors lived. My great great grandmother immigrated all alone in 1860 from Oslo, Norway. However, as I was knitting I was becoming terribly afraid the sweater would be an itch party upon wearing it. The Tynn Silk Mohair was not nearly as soft as the Rowan Silk Mohair. After knitting the slipover, I soaked it in a knitwear wash for 30 minutes and blocked it…. and it is as SOFT as a dream. No itch party here!

It was such a treat to knit away and feel the yarn slowly prodding away through my fingers, ever so surely transforming into a wearable piece of art. I will always think of the time I felt Denmark and Norway when I wear my new slipover vest. It is moments like these that I feel SO STINKING SPOILED. Or rather lucky, spoiled is such a yucky word - you get my drift.
