Meet Frida

Another oversized Greta Pocket Doll!

I printed the pattern at 130%, instead of the recommended 100%.

All the fabrics (except the skin base) are leftover remnants from gorgeous Indian Hand Blocked cottons - I source my India fabrics on Etsy from this SHOP (this is a temporary affiliate link!).

I also used Rowan silk mohair for her hair… if you have spent any amount of time with my patterns, you may have noticed I rarely use yarn for hair. I have a complex. As a child, I remember feeling rather peeved when I would part my doll’s hair to only discover that there wasn't any. Yarn hair is typically applied to create the look of a full head of hair, but rarely is - alas, my disappointment. What is the point of yarn hair if I can’t even do the doll’s hair??? One could argue that you cannot ‘do’ the other types of hair either and you would be correct - which is why I decided to move past my aversion and have some fun with yarn hair.

I chose Rowan mohair silk, which was a pricey endeavour. I thought I would be able to use the skein for a few dolls… nope, just one. Lesson learned. However, mohair silk is simply exquisite and I highly recommend it always and always.

If you would like me to do a tutorial on how to sew on yarn hair, just say so! I am happy to oblige.
