Draft a Dress.
This is a belated post and a few months overdue. Penny is graduated while we were in the midst of selling our home and preparing for reno life.
She is my second baby. I feel ALOT of feelings. It all goes too fast and not fast enough. I have observed that once the second kid achieves a milestone, all of the sudden all the younger kids are right behind and it flies by.
Anyways… we worked together to design the dress of her dreams. She insisted I sew it… I make dolls, not dresses. I did make my oldest daughter’s grad dress, but we found a pattern and I followed the instructions. I will share Isabelle’s dress soon…
Here is the concept…
In lieu of her name, Penny wanted a copper colour…
I miraculously found the most gorgeous silk taffeta at the local Fabricland - seriously, what are the chances??? I instantly picked Penny up from school and tested it against her skin tone and bought what was left on the bolt - just enough to make a dress. A million bodice mock ups later, while watching every one could find on YouTube video on drafting, and getting ALL the books from the library on the art, I managed to make the dress. It wasn't perfect… but Penny LOVED it and looked exquisite in it.
