Pomona Pants again…

My second pair! Actually, my third of you count the shorts I made. I dearly love my Pomona pants. I cut a size 6. My beloved green pair are cut to the pattern… this black pair I resorted to attempting to using less fabric….

The Pomona pants have no side seams, which I LOVE. However, this means that I cannot cut both pant sides on a folded piece of 58” fabric… The width is just shy of a size 6 - the folded fabric was about a size 2.

So… I did it anyway - folded the fabric in half lengthwise and secured my pattern. I cut a size 6 and let it be a size 2 where the crotch seams meet at the top of the legs (the widest part of the pattern). When sewing I used a minimal seam allowance approaching the crotch seam to recover what I could.

For all my pairs of Pomonas, I have the two pockets in the front. Dreamy for holding your phone or whatnot!

I am uncertain if the pants are slightly smaller or if the fabric is just stiffer. My original green pair were made from medium weight, 100% Otek certified linen and the black pair is 100% cotton, with a linen like texture - not a quilters cotton. The linen pair definitely loosens more as I wear them. I may also just be slightly larger as a person…. peri-menopause seems to be playing with me like that.
