How to Knit a Holiday Stocking

Eeeek! I FINALLY made a VIDEO to accompany the Holiday Stocking Knitting Pattern. It’s about darn time…

A long, long time ago I had a bee in my bonnet and decided I MUST hand knit Christmas stockings for our family.

The only thing I had knit prior to that moment was very basic lengths of Garter Stitch and wonky scarfs…

Now… this is before the days of the internet being the resource it is now. So off to the library I went. I found a knitting book that had the math formula for knitting socks (I could not find a Christmas stocking pattern for the life of me). It made absolutely no sense, but it became my evening companion for weeks, has I attempted and re-attempted.

After many happy hours (I do love to work through things, so while at times it was exasperating, it was the perfect way to end my toddler filled days - in my head, with room for nothing else), I had figured how to knit my first Christmas Stocking.

All this to say… a stocking can be tricky business, but it is totally doable and such a perfect way to learn new skills!

And it does not need to be such a laborious undertaking for you…

I wrote this Holiday Stocking Knitting Pattern with bulky yarn and big needles with beginners in mind - big yarn and needles allows you to see what is happening and makes a quick knitting project!

The pattern does included pictures of every step, however… now you have a video to guide you through the rough spots! I cannot wait to knit a stocking with you!!!!
